Basket of Blooms
In the basket the viewer can almost feel the hard brittle texture of the basket and the light and dark give a 3D appearance allowing the viewers the sense that they could put their fingers into the spaces. The flowers portray different textures going from smooth petals to the rough-looking cone-shaped ones that are actually made up of very tiny flowers.
The original drawing of this piece won a spot in the 4th Annual Black and White Art Exhibit in April of 2020 on the Fusion Art site.

As does all of my art except for oils which are drawn in paint right on the canvas, Basket of Blooms began as a pencil drawing which can still be seen in this final digital version here. It speaks for itself in its beauty and complexity. Both the basket and the flowers are intricate in their rendering, but do not compete with each other giving a final cohesiveness to the piece.
