The friends of the butterfly are iridescent mums in light colors so that the intense blue of the butterfly stands out between them. All are featured on a bed of green leaves. The deep vibrant blue of the butterfly draws the eye to the center of the canvas and then the gaze can go to either flower and travel up or down the leaves.

Details

All of my art, unless it is an oil painting, begins with a complete pencil drawing. Butterfly and Friends was an oil painting which I drew with paint on the canvas first and later on digitized to get the iridescent finish and texture on the flowers. The original oil hangs in my home.
