Inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi — repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, this is a one-of-a-kind, wheel thrown, reduction fired vase. Gold luster simulates kintsugi. Rest assured that the vase has not been broken and mended.
The vase was glazed with a Japanese Shino and then dusted with wood ash for this unique look. After the reduction firing, it was decorated with a luster overglaze and then fired a third time.
Measures 8 3/4” tall by 4” in diameter. (Not microwave safe and not recommended to wash in a dishwasher to preserve the luster.) Perfect for that beautiful bouquet of flowers.
