This is the original piece in the hanging talisman series. It is a hanging sculpture in which the physical form of the shale works with the visual form of the tree stump with new life--a visual form I work with in a variety of media. These relief sculptures came to being as a way to work with forms from nature and emerge from the straight edges of the canvas. They are designed to be light and easy to hang, and are well suited to smaller spaces individually or larger spaces as a group.
