Louise Lefkovits
The Ocean
For this piece and “Bubbles & Swirls”
I started with a large piece of paper 18 x 24 and painted with large and small brushes using acrylic paint. I was thinking of the ocean, it's force, inhabitants, how it makes me feel (in particular the Cornish seas in SW England) and as I was thinking about all these things I made bold, thick lines, swirls and smaller marks using different colors. The paper was then cut into smaller sizes and I then added fish-like shapes, drew a sail boat and added some seaweed shapes and colors, as well as random lines and marks.
I have created 6 pieces for this show specifically for children (which make great gifts)
I used the same ocean theme and style as “Ocean” and “Bubbles and Swirls”, but made the art work into a fun project to find things hidden within the work that you will see in/on the ocean. They are #s 18,19,20,21,22,23.
Please check them out too. Thanks
