This quilt may be used as a throw, a wall hanging or large crib quilt. In this quilt York meditated on the meanings of Painting the Town Red. She then chose her block pattern called Propeller that uses a combination of 2 inch squares and 4 inch triangles to form the blades of the propellers. The pattern is traditionally uses a neutral or solid background to highlight the propellers in this case the pattern is reversed with a red and white paisley surrounding red, pink, and white propellers. The quilting is done in a free motion style primarily over the main paisley fabric and straight lines on its borders. The quilt contains a 2 inch patchwork border sandwiched between two borders a red and black tie-dyed fabric which is also the primary backing fabric. The backing is also pieced with a patch work strip and the primary white and red paisley from the front. The quilt has a narrow binding of with the same red and white paisley fabric throughout tying the quilt together. Please see coordinating pillow cover/sham in another listing. The quilt uses 24 different collected fabrics in shades of red.

Each of the quits for this exhibit is inspired by current affairs and the stress the artist sees in the world. Prior to this show all York’s quilts have been made for friends and family members as a way to show her love with each stitch. Wishing to stitch the world together and because quilts are a unique functional art form that provides of warmth and comfort, York hopes you will enjoy the love and passion that has gone into creating this one of a kind piece and that it may bring you comfort.
