Queen Bee

Acrylic portrait of the Queen of the Hive in ornate, hand painted frame. In images of Queen Elizabeth I her elaborate gowns reminded me of the wings, fuzzy ruff and stripes of the regal queen bee. I posed her in a fabulous gown with a honeycomb backdrop. Then all she needed was a crown. Her Majesty’s faithful drones gather atop this lovely, vine entwined frame.
