Rosendale Trestle
The elaborate support system of the RosendaleTrestle. This railway bridge built between 1870 and 1872 is 290' long and rises 150' over the Rondout Creek. At that time it was the highest span bridge in the United States.
Recent investors wanted to make it a bungee jumping center, but the plans were nixed in light of the perceived potentially distracting effect on drivers. It is now part of the Empire State Trail.
