My favorite bee story is about a woman in Africa who figured out how to keep elephants from marauding everyone’s vegetable gardens. People now hang beehives between fence posts. Lasers trigger speakers to amplify the sound of bees swarming—one of the few things that frighten elephants so they run away. Kitchen gardens are now safe and well pollinated. There is extra income from honey and the elephants are no longer being shot. That’s a lot of wins for one woman’s idea!
