Music
In 2004 I was commissioned to design for a new chapel within Kingston's Temple Emanuel 3 stained glass windows , each to be 6 and one half feet high. These I created with the assistance of my husband, Paul.
Since the late Cantor Park's generous bequest made the chapel possible, it was decided that the left-most window would be a tribute to Park and dedicated to MUSIC.
So Paul and I devised a David's Lyre whose strings were a Shin, the first letter in Shir -- Hebrew for "song." The shin always appears prominently on our Mezzuzot. It stands for Shaddai, one of the 3 holy names of God: One of Shaddai's attributes is protecting the home. On the windows above the shin are two shofarim, whose music sounds impressively on our days of awe.
