I have been creating with clay for more than 50 years, and currently work out of my home studio in Saugerties. I began in the 1970s with pottery classes at Greenwich House in Manhattan, and since retiring from my career as a school administrator, I’ve continued studying at Sugar Maples in Windham
My handmade wall vases are crafted from porcelain and white stoneware clay, fired to cone 6, using crackle or clear glazes. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, rolled out and shaped from slabs as the clay inspires me. They are glazed inside to hold water and fresh flowers, but are equally lovely with dried or paper blooms, or even a single orchid stem. Lightweight and easy to hang from a simple nail, these vases feel graceful in your hand and bring a natural, organic touch to any space. My work has been featured by several local florists including Hops Petunia in Kingston.
